When asked "Where is the country of Uganda?", most people would probably guess Africa, but to any extent more specific, they'd be clueless. To the left is a map of the continent of Africa.

Located in eastern Africa, its position lies to the west of Kenya. Relative to the size of most other countries located in Africa, Uganda is a smaller country; however, within these small borders lies a gigantic war. The exact proportions of the horrors in Uganda are downscaled - even hidden - in the United States as well as the rest of the world by the lack of media pertaining to the subject.

Uganda's total area spans to be approximately 236,040 km˛; of this area, 85% of it is land, and the other 15% is water. To give a picture for its size, Uganda's whole area is slightly smaller than the state of Oregon.

The lowest point in Uganda lies in Lake Albert which sinks 621 m above sea level; its highest point: falls atop Margherita Peak on Mount Stanley - about 5,110 m above sea level.

Uganda's population is approximately 27,269,000 individuals, however, this fluctuates greatly because of the spread of AIDS and the constant fighting within the country. Incredibly, more than half of Uganda's population lies in the age group of 0 - 14 years old; only around 2% of the population has lived to be over 65. The infant mortality rate is ten times greater than that of the United States: 6 infants will die in every 1000 births in America / more than 6 infants will die in every 100 births in Uganda.
